Biographies


Marjorie G. Jones is a graduate of Wheaton College, Norton, Massachusetts, and the Rutgers School of Law. In the 1990s, after twenty-five years in banking and executive recruitment, she returned to school and earned an M.A. in Historical Studies at the Graduate Faculty of the New School in New York City. Since then she has taught history at The New School, Mercy College, Dobbs Ferry, NY and Mercy College’s program at Sing Sing Prison; currently she teaches at Graterford Prison, PA, for Villanova University. A biographer, she is a member of the Writing Women’s Lives seminar in NYC.

Kathleen Brown, NP, PhD is a Practice Associate Professor of Nursing at the University of Pennsylvania. She is a Nurse Practitioner in women’s health and received her Masters’ and PhD from the University of Pennsylvania. She is a sought-after expert witness in sexual assault and sexual homicide cases by both prosecution and defense in criminal and civil cases. Currently Dr. Brown and a Philadelphia-based ex-offender community partner have created the “Breaking the Cycle” Program, designed to house women trafficked for sex in transitional homes.

Jonathan C. Jones, a graduate of the College of Wooster and Fordham University’s Gabelli School of Business, served in the Navy and spent his early career as a commercial banker in New York. In the 1990’s he became an executive search consultant and then founded Jones Search Group LLC specializing in finance, legal and educational staffing needs.

Rilka C. Spieler is a graduate of Haverford College. During her time in college, she was a founding member of Rethink Incarceration, a student group that worked with men incarcerated at Graterford Prison developing and running workshops about Restorative Justice. After graduating, Rilka worked as a paralegal at the MacArthur Justice Center in New Orleans. Since then, she has been running environmental and public interest political campaigns with a number of nonprofits, including the Community Voters Project - whose goal is to increase civic engagement focusing on Latino and African American populations. Currently, she is serving on the board of her synagogue, Kol Tzedek: A Voice for Justice, and lives in West Philadelphia.
